My friend told me a lot of The Latchmere in Battersea. This is the place to be when you want to have a real british experience in a pub. So here we go to The Latchmere to eat some typical british meals and drink beers (of course).
A table was reserved to us in the front of the window to enjoy the (street) view. I was the first arrived in the pub. The boy behind the bar didn’t really understand me when I was saying “I’m here for dinner.” (Ok, my english is maybe not so good but who can’t understand “dinner”). I took place on table and start with a glass of sauvignon blanc.
The menu is very extensive and there is something for everyone, every taste. I decided to choose the fish & chips. No regrets, it was really simple but very delicious. Half crisp, half flux, this is everything I love in a fish & chips. What I liked more? Homemade chips. It’s really rare to find so good homemade chips, isn’t it? This beer battered hake, served with pea purée, tartare sauce and hand cut chips perfectly hits the british spot. #yummyyum
I was not hungry anymore for puddings. I regret a little bit because seeing puddings served on other tables, I was drooling in advance. But my stomach said no. We started to leave the table to go to pay when a waitress came to us to say “you are not paying?” Obviously, yes, we would just pay – why are you asking us that? – We were very disappointed to leaving the pub on this last taste. Luckily, we ate well! Good food, good drinks for a real british experience in South of London!
