Every year we are so excited to discover new rooftops. The Foodlish found Notch on Oxford Street.
Located on the fourth floor of the London Marriott Hotel, Park Lane, this rooftop is only accessible via a secret entrance tucked away at the far end of Oxford Street near Marble Arch. #secrethiding
The climb up the staircase leads straight to the rooftop to reveal Notch’s Williamsburg warehouse meets Berlin Yard sale space. Led by design team, DENLDN, Notch features an eclectic mix of reclaimed materials: school science tables sourced from a boatyard in the east of England; bomb proof lighting from a bomb factory in the Wye Valley; back bar shelving from an architectural salvage yard in Norfolk; and a row of rooftop swings overlooking the streets below.
What kind of food is served?
Cooking up some Nikkei street food will be Mark Morrans in his own little Fudo Shack. Mark will be dishing out punchy plates daily from 12pm to 10pm that incorporate the fusion of Japanese and South American, and often Peruvian, flavours and techniques. Expect signature dishes such as tacos, with either fried chicken with marinated kimchee mayo, shichimi, chilli and chives, or Pulled beef with anticucho drenched short rib, anticucho mayo and pickled cucumber.
The bar at Notch will have a distinctly summer feel to it, mixing Rum, Tequila and Gin based cocktails. The Red Pigeon made with Espolon Tequila, Campari, lime, pink grapefruit and sugar and the Humming Bird which uses Bulldog Gin, elderflower, lavender, apple, lemon and sugar, priced at £8 each, gunning to be fast summer favourites. But what Notch will be known for are their Canned Classics: handcrafted and hand sealed small cans of classic cocktails, the #CannedClassics include aNegroni (made with Cinzano Rosso, Campari and Bulldog Gin), Fashioned (Wild Turkey 81 and bitters) and, Adonis (Cinzano Rosso, sherry and bitters), priced £8 a pop. Sharing cocktails and summer staples like schooners of craft beers and bags of wine will also be available.
